Lou Anne Bynum (LLB 1993) - 2009 Alumnus of the YearLou Anne Bynum


The annual Jim Ackerman Alumnus of the Year Award is presented to a Leadership Long Beach graduate who embodies principled leadership and demonstrates community trusteeship through volunteer service. This year Lou Anne Bynum (LLB ‘93) has been elected by the alumni to receive the award for exemplifying the ideals and values of the organization.

Join us on Monday, June 15 at the Houssels Forum/Van Dyke Theatre at Long Beach Memorial Medical Center as we congratulate Lou Anne on her honor and recognize the 2009 graduates of the EQS and LLB Institute programs.

Leadership Long Beach Class of 2010 Applications are now available.
Leadership Long Beach is now accepting applications for the Class of 2010 – the premier leadership development program for the city of Long Beach.

With a mission to “develop and connect principled leaders to strengthen the community,” Leadership Long Beach is recruiting individuals, companies, and organizations to be a part of their leadership program for the coming year. Over 700 people have graduated from its two adult programs – Leadership Long Beach Institute and Executive Quick Start - and its Youth Leadership Long Beach program.   New applicants will join LLB’s 700 graduates, many of whom continue to serve on city commissions and various non-profit boards, support community volunteer work and activities, have advanced in their professional careers and made Long Beach a better place for its residents.

Putt Putt on Pine – Thursday, April 23 PPlogo
Those zany Leadership Long Beach golfers hit Pine Avenue and the East Village Arts District for the 14th time on April 23. Golf teams spent the evening competing, laughing, catching up with friends and exploring old and new businesses along Pine Avenue and the East Village Arts District. Many enjoyed an evening stroll between their golf holes, listening to live bands along the route, and others preferred a quick rest and an elevated view from the Big Red Bus. More

Youth Leadership Long Beach highlighted in Press-Telegram

Exhibiting the principled values gained in their first sessions, the Youth Leadership Class of 2009 were profiled in the Press-Telegram on Sunday, December 28 as it chronicled their session as they modeled the City Council and tried to balance the city budget. The 10-month Leadership Long Beach program is now accepting applications for the Class of 2010. Click Here for the application and 2009-10 class dates.

Youth Leadership Long Beachyouth
Youth Leadership Long Beach gives local high school students an opportunity to participate in the same type of training as in the adult program. Sophomores and juniors participate in this six month program and gain leadership skills and broader awareness of themselves and their community through this program offered from October through March.
